    title: brans stayover...........=.=
    time: 4/30/2006 10:26:00 PM
sat night we had stayover at brans place yet AGAIN. i was late, i reached only at ard 10pm lol.

so we chiong until around 3am, den suddenly everyone became so tired.. and complained, we wont go on without food! so okay.. we decided to call macs...

6-777-3777.... it felt we dialed over a hundred times, everytime there was no answer from the 'minah' on the line LOL.

P.S:"minah" = macs is not a happy *person*

so everyone gave up, in the end my turn to call, it was already 3.30... den there was the usual waiting in line music.. and then suddenly "hello can i take your order"! lol! immediately i shout everyone tow ake up and order what they want.. and then there was the hugnry james, the one complaining, calling like mad and he took the phone, spent 10 mins yapping away like a mad idiot,.. and nUUU , he wasnt placing his order, he was scolding the "minah" on the line lol!

and then that idiot kenji came with his retarded eyes and said"u make me wait 3 hours for u to pick up the phone, and now u tell me u dont have McPorky!!! WTF, we all went rolling on the ground because the effects of his crap seemed super amplified at 3am in the morning! WHUAHA!

and then... i was bored, i didnt want to watch the geek show on tv. so i went to play with the imba cat. i waved my hand infront of him and made her turn her head round and round and round and then "raaaa! sheerrrrr sheeeeeehhhhhh..." wa she scratch my hand.... her paw so small but the 3 wounds so far apart.. somemore got so much blood! oww?! shes on my imba cat banlist already...

right.. the post seems a lil hard to understand lol, oh nvm.

    title: shanghai 06
    time: 4/02/2006 09:48:00 PM
im finally back in sg after a week. its been like 8 years since i last travelled on a plane already.

i have too much to say to everyone, so i think i should blog about it instead =D

ok my first statement. The people in china are really racist! when we jus got off the plane, passing the customs to get outside the airport, the guards immediately singled out the malays and for our case a sri lankan guy. we singaporean chinese got really quick clearance and waited hella long time for them to get their stuff checked.

the first breath i took of china's atmosphere nearly killed me... freaking polluted! like standing in front of the SBS bus's exhaust and taking deep breath.. besides that, its really cold and dry, maybe ard 8 -10 degrees.. soon after that, my nose started to feel as though it was splitting apart. no blood, just like someone cutting it up ha! but i experienced sth real cool. when we exhaled, got smoke from our mouths lol! i must sound really sua ku now: xD

    some newer housing estates

so anyway, we went to this suzhou industrial park, where lee kuan yew supposedly went to sign a deal with em to invest over there, i really nv heard about it before.
that place was realy like a tiny singapore, air was much cleaner, environment too! they have hotels, housing, shopping centers, supermarket, factories, farms, all in one place. not to mention the whole industrial park is actually 1/3 of singapores size. WTF .. one special thing about that place which makes other industrial parks jealous is that they can approve investors from overseas and act like the government. real cool right!

so we also went to silk factories, saw the poor wormies getting their homes cut up and themselves boiled to death. tissue factory was cool. really funny to see them rolling gigantic rolls of toilet paper around.. one roll i think can last 2-3 generations lol.

we went to a village on mostly water, called xitang. mostly cultural stuff, but its called a mini venice. there were alleys so freaking tiny, i think only i can squeeze through lor!

    xitang village

then there was this freaking wierd train we sat, called the maglev, a chino-german project. the train moved as fast as aeroplane taking off.. i got a video of the scenery passing. pm me if u want it. we moved at like 400+km/hr.. its crazy la.. now i feel mrt is like so sloww..

not to mention the beggar kids running around everywhere. quite sad really. they are forced by their parents to beg from young, to be pickpockets and all.

also got to ride on the ferry around the gigantic west lake. believe me it is bigger than singapore river, kallang river or wadeva river in sg put together. saw guan yu's tomb, and damn funny, there was the statues of his persecutors being fored to kneel down and GUESS WAD, they were covered in SPITTLE. there was this sign in chinese saying, qing something tan, initially i thought it meant" please spit". later on my friend said, the words meant. "we are civilized people, please refrain from spitting". LOL imagine that.

    please spit xD

we also got to see green tea plantation... that place kinda took half of the cohort students money away lol. freaking expensive green tea they sold. but really nice too.

    green tea farm

we visited the childrens orphanage. and something really unbelievable about the place was that it is bigger than TP. orphanage leh! bigger than the school sia! the kids there hae opportunities to go to school, up to universities somemore. and they have activities, indoor basketball court all that, do we even smell a indoor basketball court in the near future? NEVER!

    fortunate kids?

alright.. , about china's nightlife. theres the place called "bund area" where we got to see shanghai's skyline. okay wait, when u look at clarke quay in sg, u think its very beautiful. but u can only look in 1 direction and admire. in shanghai, i can turn 360 degrees and still be amazed lor! i also saw buildings from colonial period, really look westernized. theres the place called "xin tian di" its a pub and shopping ctr area. crowding with ANG MOs. they too have starbucks, coffee bean. but the drinks standard . FAIL. lol!

    bund area

new york and english buildings replica

    river skyline

    more buildings

    streetscene

shant explain the cultural shows, acrobatic shows.. amazing.

    there we go

the 4th day we went to the university. the place is real big, but super unorganised. also, to be a english teacher in china, u dun have to speak good english, just a little translation here and there can already, and get a degree in english. easy life?

    the english standard

    me and my groupies

    me and some guy

    our uni guide got punk'd

    some faculty there

Finally, the shopping part. the stupid sch teachers took away the last day of shopping, and inserted it into a 1 hour slot for us. WTF but anyway no point feeling pissed. the market is called xiangyang market which sells imitations, factory stuns*(stolen goods) and black market items. i bought a adidas jacket, levis cap, a real communist tee for how much? only 31 SGD ha!

too bad not enuff time to shop.. and im very depressed, i left my beautiful green shades on the shelf of the stall. my friend convinced me that we will come back to get it later and we forgotten all about it! argh!

the real fun over there wasnt about getting nice stuff cheap. its about the bargaining. i really think my hagling skills improve already. from 385rmb for the jacket, cut, cut CUT to 80 rmb. den how? pay less and walk away, get it at only 75RMB, which means 15SGD only!

okay on the last day, there was this super boring visit to the museum b4 flying back to sg. we had 2 hours to walk around the musuem.. but after half an hour, we decided to snuck out and go walkin round town while we still could lol! so about 8 of us ran across the street, wad did we see? RAFFLES PLACE. yes! in shanghai lol!

btw, original adidas jacket at adidas shop there. sell certain stuff around 70% of the cost in SG, some at 20% more. so gotta be super careful also.

okay then there was this boutique, and OMg they sell shoes, jackets, tees, dresses, bags and almost everything! one shop already can beat bugis street hands down! i got this nice stripey and a jacket for about 60SGD. boutique cannot bargain T_T

so i left shanghai feeling really gian that i didnt spend much. but wth, learning journey, in fact, maybe i will come back someday...
    peach blossom

and 1 last thing i must write down here. for public awareness!!!

during one of the after lunch run downs to the bus to go somewhere else, we all made it to the bus already. only my sri lankan friend. he got stopped by a beggar ard the age of 5-6 yrs old.

the kid wanted his toy ducky he was holding and my friend refused to give it to him, nor pass him any cash. the little boy then hugged my friend and pretended to cry. but from the window, i saw he was actually feeling my friends pockets for an opening. he was later rescued by another friend who passed the kid a can of milk.

    1. most beggars in china are part time beggar, part time thief.

    2. the bus driver, who stood next to my sri lankan friend, was smoking while leaning against the bus, and could not do anything. whY? cos if he helped, the enxt time he drove by, he would get beaten up.

point is.. dont be kind like my friend who didnt want to hurt the kid. i wouldef just shove me aside gently and walk up the bus.

only one think i felt a paid too much for was a mao zedong badge. at 2 SGD. it felt like only 50cents .. but wth, im back. and im happy. =D

i got videos too. if anyone is interested can msg me online.

    till then,

    cheers
